Permeate softener in boiler feed water solution

The water supply is drinking water, prefiltered river water. The treated water is used as boiler feed water at CHP plant.
The water treatment plant consists of two reverse osmosis units, built on one common frame. Proper pre-treatment of the inlet water to the RO units is a necessity for continuous, smooth system operation. Hardness minerals clogging the membranes are removed through dosing of antiscalants that keep hardness minerals dissolved.
An ion exchange softening unit is used after the RO as a permeate softener in order to lower operational costs. However, the softener can also be used as pre-treatment to the RO units instead of antiscalant dosing. This design change is made easy through the PLC control system.
The units are built according to customer demand, including pipe system in stainless steel, KSB pumps, and Keystone motor valves with OM9 bus connection.
